Biography

James Van Dyke was the son of Quentin and Susannah (Hacker) Van Dyke. He married Melissa Jane Lindsey in 1878 in Macon, Missouri. They were the parents of Lidy Myrtle (1879-1883), Mary Lee (1881-1949), Annie Sophia (1883-1960), Effie Susan (1886-1912), James Leroy (1888-1936), Martha Matilda (1890-1967), Arthur John Cleveland (1892-1979), and Elsie (1893-1956). The family lived in Missouri. James died in Iowa in 1902 and is buried in Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport, Iowa.
